Mike Baluja is a 46 year old songwriter who was born and raised in Tampa. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1975, then went on to USF, where he received a BA in Mass Communications. He's had very little formal training in music or producing and recording, but does possess a well rounded appreciation for many of the musical genre's of the 20th century. His major influences range from the British invasion to the Motown sound, from guys like Springsteen, Petty, Dylan, and Van Morrison, to unheard of local writers and bands who he's had the privilege to have been exposed to and sometimes worked with. He played in one band, Airwaves, which was formed and dissolved in the early 80's. Since that time, he has rarely performed live, opting instead to write and record in his spare time, while raising a family with his wife, Cindy. He is currently submitting material to publishers, record companies, and producers in the hopes that established or up and coming acts will cover his material.
